Role-Playing Effective Sales Training Tool

The Columbus, Ohio, real-estate firm Coldwell Banker Kennon, Parker, Duncan & Key conducts weekly training seminars, which often include role-playing. Agents act out various sales scenes with one another, such as handling a sensitive house seller or showing a home’s drawbacks to a buyer. Kennon director Ed Grifenhagen says practicing potential scenarios enables realtors to deal with stress and provides them greater confidence for real-life buyer and seller situations.

Making Mentorships Work

Companies continue to turn to mentoring programs to groom successors and leaders for their firms, but too often mentoring programs fail because executives fail to lay sufficient groundwork for these mentoring relationships to grow. For instance, mentees must first analyze their own goals, objectives, work styles, personalities, and other traits, which they will need to articulate to mentors in the first meeting.
