What Effective Managers Don’t Do Matters, Too

This year we’ve discussed progressive actions and practices that managers can follow to motivate success and leadership within their teams. What is also important to highlight are the actions that managers are better off avoiding, and common mistakes that are frequently made. Below are a few ACADEMY-recommended “Don’ts” you can practice avoiding to become a more effective leader.

1. DON’T expecting employees to be clones.
Leaders often become disappointed when employees don’t demonstrate the same level of commitment and enthusiasm as managers have. Understand that most employees probably don’t feel the same way about their job as their boss does. Oftentimes failure or simple indifference is regarded as unacceptable, which can further weaken employee morale and lead to a breakdown in relationships and communication. (more…)
